Feeling stuck is incredibly common, regardless of your age, gender or walk of life. Sometimes, it feels as if we were not in the position we should be and there is no way to get there. Similarly to a labyrinth, it's as if there was no issue. The truth is that there is, we just have to find it.
You may feel a certain lack of clarity, the sentiment of going nowhere, negative pressure and thought patterns or an overall ''freeze'' state. Usually, the common advice is to work your way out of it, but it may not be advice that works for you. It is normal, often a ''stuck'' feeling comes after something that shook you deeply to your core. It may be a series of unfortunate events or a moment of bad luck, an overall build up of things not going exactly your way. That is okay, it is part of the human experience we are all here to live. What truly matters is that you do not settle into this state for a long period of time, because then it becomes a habit. Habits become patterns and patterns become reality, therefore you being stuck. Understand that it is normal and it happens to anyone, but also remember that it does not have to be your story.
Start by analyzing the situation that got you there, be honest and accept as it is for it is now in the past and we can not change what already happened... By accepting it, I am not implying to simply let things be as they are, but to stop being harsh with yourself about it. Sometimes, life happens, and that is all you need to tell yourself. Assess where you are and why, by truly deeply understanding the root of what is causing you to feel stuck it will be easier to move forward. Remember to be patient and kind, to be understanding with yourself. Once you comprehend your situation and yourself, your patterns that lead you here, things will get a little bit smoother.
Like anything in life, this step requires action. Everything is made through action, taking decisions, making moves, doing something guarantees some kind of outcome. Start by realistically setting some goals for yourself, like for example trying something new or reaching out to an old friend. This will help you to get familiar again with action and enable you to do more instead of feeling stuck or frozen in place. Things do change, they always change, but learn to embrace it as it is simply different cycles and seasons of your life. Here, I am trying to teach you about the value of balance. It is important to not overdo achievements, it may just put you back in the very position you are trying to escape. Learn to go at your own rythm and take as much time as you need. I would advise to slowly build stable habits that will serve you in the long run instead of attempting to go from stage A to stage Z overnight. Adopt an intentional approach and remember it is better to grow into this with grace.
One thing to note about ruts is that they serve you a great purpose; they help you to evaluate, reassess your life and rest before a new chapter. I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason, even if in the moment we may not understand that very reason. Having been stuck in ruts several times before in my life, I know the feelings of frustration and despair that inhabits you. I want you to know that things do get better, nothing is set in stone and that includes this rather unpleasant moment of your life. Do not give up, there are better days ahead.
Much love and many blessings.
